Back in 2018, the Niger government teamed up with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation to carry out a project called Operation Sahel Giraffe. In order to safeguard and preserve a highly-threatened species of giraffe in Niger, the project aimed to safely relocate eight West African giraffes, five females and three males, to the Gadebadji Biosphere Reserve.
