Reuben Brewer, a Senior Robotics Research Engineer at SRI Robotics, has created a robot in attempts to make traffic stops safer for both civilians and police. This technology aims to take out the middle man of traffic stops — the police officer — and uses a robot to approach the pulled over car, having the officer and civilian communicate via camera. Its purpose is to mitigate the risk of violence that could potentially occur during human to human interaction, instead using artificial intelligence to act as the go-between.
